A frequently asked question is if you can install our HEAVY DUTY TITAN IMPELLER kit by yourself. Therefore we show you the required steps.

Balancing and modification of impeller to properly fit the turbine housing isn’t displayed here as it differs from turbine to turbine. JetSurf turbines come in different versions concerning ball bearings, sealing ring etc which can’t be clearly assigned to certain years of build.

We strongly recommend to send at least the turbine to us for impeller conversion. How to get the turbine pulled out of the hull we show you on this page.

Result of the conversion explained on this page is a JETSURF® turbine housing with a Titanium impeller like it is installed from factory in MOTOJET® V2 Plus. Main difference is that MOTOJET® V2 Plus has a turbine housing made of anodized 7075 aviation grade aluminum. We will offer a complete replacement turbine for JETSURF® boards soon.

Remove all bolts of Main Fin Base using a 4mm allen key. We recommend allen keys by SwissTools®.

Remove cone from end of turbine using 5mm allen key.

Remove all hoses for coolant supply and drainage from turbine. Press plastic safety ring into the connector and then pull hose out of the connector.

Block turbine shaft by using an allen key. You may use Shaft Coupling bolts for this. Ensure allen key sits properly in the bolt and secure surfaces from being scratched.

Remove bolt that secures turbine shaft into turbine housing. Snap ring can remain in place. Remove bolt and washer.

Remove bolts that connect the turbine housing to the hull.

Loosen all bolts of parts located sitting on turbine shaft:

  • Shaft Coupling
  • front Shaft Safety Lock
  • rear Shaft Safety Lock

Preparation of Turbine Pulling Tool. Ensure that surface where the tool sits on the hull is clean and that buffers sit correctly on turbine pulling tool. Insert long thread into holes of turbine pulling tool. Then screw the tool into the thread in turbine shaft until it sits nicely on the hull. If required, use small nut to adjust.

Use a 10mm wrench to turn the single nut of the turbine pulling tool in clockwise direction. Keep an eye on proper position of the tool; it may not move.

Firstly, a certain tension will build up. If required, use a sharp knife to cut along the silicone between turbine housing and hull.

Turbine can slowly be pulled out of the hull.

Take turbine out of the hull. Be aware that all parts sitting on the turbine shaft don’t fall out of the hull. We usually put the engine cover back on so these parts won’t hit the ground.

Removal of destroyed carbon impeller and insert of new impeller. Usually, the old impeller can be removed from the turbine housing without using force. Place the new impeller into the turbine housing accordingly.

Check if impeller is located properly, moving nicely without touching any parts of turbine housing, turbine shaft being 100% straight, and bearing and sealing rings.

IMPORTANT NOTE: there are different sealing rings used in JetSurf® turbines. In most of the cases the have an inner diameter of 12mm, but there are some with 10mm. The HD Titanium Impeller requires 12mm inner diameter seals. PLEASE CHECK PRIOR INSTALLATION!

If swapping ball bearing is required, snap ring has to be removed first using a suitable tool.

To remove sealing rings and ball bearings, use of appropriate tools is mandatory.

Heavy Duty Titan Impeller installed in genuine turbine housing. You may use bolt and washer to secure turbine shaft in turbine housing.

When putting bolt and washer in, you have to check what kind of thickness is required for the washer. There may be no movement when bolt is tightened properly; impeller can be turned by hand easily.

Remove old silicone from turbine housing. You can use a chemical cleaner, a rubber grinder, a sharp knife, finger nails or your teeth.

When turbine housing is cleaned properly, remove remains of silicone from the hull as well.

Final step is using sand paper to treat the surface where new silicone will be put on so it gets best adhesion.

Befor putting silicone on, test fit the turbine into the hull.

Be careful not to push the ball bearing inside the hull out of its location.

Apply a thin layer of silicone on the turbine housing, leaving no gaps.

Insert turbine shaft into hull. Then place both Shaft Safety Locks and Shaft Coupling in the correct order.

Insert turbine completely. Check if turbine is really sitting 100% in place. You may also check if bolt holes for attaching turbine housing to hull are in line.

Secure the turbine to the hull. After that, tighten all bolts in reverse order from disassembly.

Once you tightened Shaft Coupling and both Shaft Safety Locks, block turbine shaft as described above and install bolt and washer(s) into turbine shaft using Loctite.

Finally put the cone back on and install Main Fin Base again. Let the silicon dry propely for 24 hours before you hit the water again.

When everything is ready to go, MotoSurfing with debris in water is no longer a financial adventure anymore.
